Two main geographic regions of the Czech Republic (Bohemia and Moravia) are also the leading tourists’ destinations. It is not true that they differ greatly from each other, they have much in common and at the same time posses their own characteristic features. For example, Central Bohemia offers the tourists a lot of interesting routs starting in Prague, coming through the picturesque medieval town of Kutná Hora and finishing in the wine-producing town of Mělník. Without any doubts Prague is the most famous city in the Czech Republic. Only thanks to the popularity of its capital the Czech Republic was firmly put on the world tourist map. The Old Town – the heart of the city, is usually overcrowded, because every person coming to Prague tries to visit this place. The most important historical and architectural sights are concentrated here. Being an entire outdoor museum the center of Prague should be explored on foot, the winding passages, old central square, the Josefov Ghetto - Jewish Quarter - all its attractions are all within easy reach. In contrast with the Old Town the New Town is a bright example of modern architecture. It is represented by wide boulevards, Wenceslas Square, the National Gallery. The Old and New Towns are joined with the Castle District, situated west of the River Vltava, by the Charles Bridge, which is also worth visiting.
The other, not less famous city of this region is Brno – the second biggest city of the country. It is stepped in history, because was officially founded in the 13th century but it is known that this territory was settled almost 10 thousand years prior to this date. That’s why if you are eager to deep in the history, you are welcome to Brno. It should be emphasized that Western Bohemia region is famous for its spa towns, the leading place in the list of which is occupied by Karlovy Vary. The atmosphere of beauty and peace, created due to its location in the green valley, attracts a lot of tourists. Most of them go to Karlovy Vary not to admire the architecture, but to relax the mind and body. There are 15 thermal springs in Karlovy Vary, giving the visitors not only the beauty of the body but also the health, the value of which can not be overestimated. The locals and tourists gather near the colonnades to fill in their drinking cups with mineral water, famous for its restorative and healing properties.
As for the Moravia region it is full of small wine villages. The Czech countryside is an attractive place for those, who prefer active rest and different kinds of sport. Wonderful conditions for the hikers, cyclists and cross-country skiers are naturally created here.
